“Those twins that are black and white but don’t know they are.” This was a quote that came from my former Rugby trainer. She said this in reference to my friendship with Franknee, one of my few best friends...who just so happens to be white. Frankie has been one of my college friends for about 4 years now.  Growing up, as many of you know I’ve been to several predominantly white schools from the jump. I’m talking about schools where the percentages of African American students were low compared to any other enrolled race. So having these interracial friendships was bound to happen as nonchalant as that may sound. As you can tell by the title, I will share my on the bright side tips for being quarantined during COVID-19. Unfortunately, I work for an essential business and don't get to do much stay at home or quarantine activities that I see everyone doing online. But don't get me wrong, I am very thankful to still have a job where I still get to learn my new role in the company and still have a source of income. My heart goes out to everyone whose futures are uncertain. However, it is highly important (and recommended) that you stay home and/or practice social distancing whenever you can. I know we all can get bored and down during these unsure times, but it is important we try to stay positive and encourage others to do their part. What did you think when asked to speak about your experience? I just don't think I often paid attention to attending a PWI, but I know it was inevitable. I always attended predominately white schools up until high school, which was more minority-based. At LIU, it was obvious if you were the black student in the class because naturally, we all sat together or there weren't too many in the class. But I also got my fair share of the "wow you sound so white," or "didn't expect you to sound like that," and that jazz.
