2023 | A(nother)Year of Lessons
It has been a hot minute since I sat down and typed a post out. A year to be exact. All I can say was the writer's block was real and figuring out what exactly people would want to read or the direction of my blog. A lot of ping-ponging with myself. However, it was another year of figuring things out and experiencing things to create the lessons I needed to see/learn.
Here are some lessons I learned in the year 2023, in no particular order that hit a bit differently and hopefully be a guide in how I plan to navigate the new year, maybe even for yourself:
1. Boundaries are VERY important and those who love and care for you will respect the ones you set. You are never asking for too much in having them.
2. There’s power in prayer.
3. The bare minimum can be a lot to someone else.
4. “If they want to, they will.”
5. There’s room for forgiveness in yourself and others.
6. It’s okay to have setbacks, YOURE HUMAN!
7. Embrace your naturalness. Mine this year happened to be my curls and wearing my natural hair more. It can be no makeup, your natural hair, body anything!
8. Progression takes time. Healing takes time. Growth takes time.
9. "Hurt people, hurt people."
10. Speak up for yourself more.
11. Apologies should come with action.
12. Not everyone can or is willing/able to have a mature conversation after a conflict.
13. You become mature realizing you allow certain things to continue whether it is intentional or not. There's some sort of comfort in that it can be weird to correct.
14. Try to find comfort in not getting that closure.
15. When you become silent or quiet in the moment you can observe more
16. You have to reflect on your actions as well.
17. Try not to let someone's opinion of you be the definition of who you are.
18. You will know when it is time to walk away, whether that is a job, relationship, friendship etc. It will be tough, but it is for a reason.
19. Sensitivity is a beautiful thing.
20. Accountability matters!
21. Prioritize your mental health! We are losing too many people due to mental health issues. It doesn't make you less for asking for help. You are enough!
I wish you a Happy Holiday and a Happy New Year! Make sure you get started on those resolutions and future blessings. Here's to 2024! xoxo
